As past curator of the Museum of Old Newbury for 17 years I was asked to write a short biography of US Senator Tristram Dalton to accompany an exhibition of sculptures by Jeff Briggs entitled Legendary Newburyporters to be shown at the Customs House Maritime Museum beginning April 1st which will run throughout 2022.
The above portrait of Tristram Dalton was painted circa 1754 shortly after his graduation from Harvard and is attributed to Joseph Blackburn who came to America from England.
I am anxiously awaiting to view Jeff Briggs’ rendition in April and encourage you to do the same.
